Breathtaking landscapes

Nature and discovery

A paradise for sports enthusiasts and walkers

Two footbridges have been built to enable you to cross the Cher between Lignerolles and St-Genest, and a third, recently installed, offers even more opportunities for walking. Remarkable landscapes to savour without moderation at Saint-Genest or Sainte-Thérence.

The Château de l’Ours, at the confluence of the Ruisseau de l’Ours and the Cher, reveals its 12th-century ruins on a rocky outcrop covered in boxwood moorland, a characteristic feature of the Combraille region. The Cher Gorges are a real playground for thrill-seekers:

They talk about it

better than us!

If you like walking in a quiet, sporty valley without too many difficulties, I recommend you go as far as the Lignerolles footbridge (Via Ferrata).

If you’re in the area, this site, a little off the beaten track, is well worth a visit.

The motonautical club, based on a stretch of water on the Cher 20 km upstream of Montluçon, welcomes you to learn or improve your water-skiing skills.

The aim of the club is to enable its members, as well as outsiders, to practise the various disciplines (bi-skiing, mono-skiing, slalom, figures, wake-boarding) as a leisure activity or with a view to competition. The facilities include an approved slalom course, a clubhouse and a concrete launch ramp.

CMR has a club boat equipped with a helm for introductory lessons in the various disciplines, with equipment on loan (skis, wakes, life jackets).
