Europe's finest oak forest

The Tronçais forest

Covering almost 10,500 hectares, the Tronçais forest is an ideal playground for hiking in all its forms.

If there were only one walk to take in this massif, it would certainly be the “ Remarkable Oaks ” walk (although let’s face it, the choice isn’t easy…). The route leads to the foot of some of the forest’s most venerable patriarchs, some of them over four centuries old.

To the rhythm of the bargemen on

the Canal de Berry

The old towpath of the Canal de Berry between Montluçon and Vallon-en-Sully has been converted into a greenway, reserved for non-motorised traffic. Locks, lock houses, canal bridges and drawbridges punctuate your walk.

Breathtaking scenery!

The Cher Gorges

As part of the Natura 2000 network, the Cher Gorges offer a spectacular setting and are home to unique flora and fauna. There are footbridges across the Cher to extend your discovery, notably between Lignerolles and St-Genest. They have also become a must for the now famous and perilous Lavault-Sainte-Anne trail (held every year at the end of February).
