The medieval city of

Montluçon

Duration: 2 hours

Nestling against the castle of the Dukes of Bourbon, the medieval town of Montluçon is full of treasures and architectural details: timber-framed houses, town houses, narrow streets, the churches of St-Pierre and Notre-Dame…

Discover the history and legends that punctuate the medieval heart of Montluçon, and end your journey back in time on the unmissable esplanade of the castle, with its breathtaking views over the town.

Montluçon Secret

1 & 2

Duration: 1h30

Discover Montluçon through anecdotes about street names, famous people and unusual places…
An invitation to wander through the heart of Montluçon, over the course of time, beliefs and the evolution of the districts. Unusual or historic street names and memories of personalities born in the city will no longer hold any secrets for you!

Tronçais

a Forest of Exception

Duration: 2h30

Tronçais oak is world-renowned for its quality. Some forty trees, several centuries old, watch over the 10,500-hectare forest, its ponds, springs and avenues. In 2018, the Chênaie Prestige was awarded the Forêt d’Exception® label.

Through a geographical, historical, administrative and economic presentation, you will tour this forest (by bus or on foot) from the Hameau de Tronçais to the Viljot fountain, passing close to the Colbert Biological Reserve and the Stebbing oak, now one of the most beautiful oaks in the forest.

Hedgehog

Small town of character

Duration: 2 hours

Labelled a “Petite Cité de Caractère®”, the medieval village of Hérisson is sure to surprise you. Situated on a rocky spur, the remains of the ancient and powerful fortress of the Dukes of Bourbon dominate the river Aumance. You can then wander through the narrow streets and alleys of the town, discovering the remains of the 14th and 15th centuries.

Optional (access by bus): guided tour of the exterior and interior of the church of St-Pierre de Châteloy (Cl. M. H.), a Romanesque and romantic site that dominates the Val d’Aumance tourist route.
