Partners, institutions, service providers,
this is your world too!

In this section, you’ll find all the information you need about legislation, the structure of our Tourist Office and the general organisation of our business.

Presentation of our entity

The “Montluçon, du Cher à Tronçais” Tourist Office is a non-profit association under the 1901 law, bringing together elected representatives and tourism professionals.
It came into being on 7 November 2017, the result of a merger between the territories of Montluçon Communauté, Val de Cher and Pays de Tronçais.

This structure’s area of competence corresponds to a population catchment area of around 80,000 inhabitants for a total of 43 communes.

Its main task is towelcome and inform visitors about the range of leisure activities, restaurants and accommodation on offer, and more generally about all the issues that will make their stay easier. This welcome is always provided in the form of “sales force advice”, to stimulate consumption of the products and services on offer in our area.

The OTSI’s other missions are to organise and promote events, provide technical support for the implementation of tourism development policies, and manage tourist facilities and services.
These activities are carried out by a team of 8 employees.

The tasks are carried out within the framework of a public service delegation, in return for which the various Établissements Publics de Coopération Communale (EPCI) provide more than 90% of the funding for the Tourist Office.

The Board of Directors

The Tourist Office’s Board of Directors is made up, on the one hand, of elected representatives of the Pays de la Vallée de Montluçon and, on the other hand, of socio-professionals representing the activities offered in the OTI’s area of competence, appointed by the General Meeting.

The Board of Directors meets when convened by the Chairman and has full powers to ensure the running of the Tourist Office.

Introduction to tourist tax

The tourist tax is paid by any adult who spends a night in commercial accommodation in the following 3 inter-municipality areas: Montluçon Communauté, Val Cher and Pays Tronçais: Montluçon Communauté, Val de Cher and Pays de Tronçais.

It is paid to the accommodation provider at the same time as the service is provided, and appears explicitly on the bill given to the customer.

Accommodation providers pay the sums collected to the PETR (Pôle d’Équilibre Territorial et Rural), which then passes them on to the Office de Tourisme de la Vallée du Cœur de France for its role in supporting the local tourist economy.

Since November 2021, an online declaration and payment system has been in place throughout the region.
Using the activation link sent to them by email, accommodation providers can now access this new online service: Tourist tax – Pays de Montluçon.

The link below explains how this platform works, as well as the current rates for the 2024 tourist tax: Taxe de Séjour 2024 Pays de Montluçon – Tarifs Fixes and Taxe de Séjour 2024 Pays de Montluçon – Tarifs Proportionnels.
