gorges-du-cher-03A natural area included in the Natura 2,000 network, the gorges du Cher offer a spectacular setting and are home to unique fauna and flora: reptiles, birds of prey, butterflies, as well as rare protected species such as the yellow-bellied toad.
Two footbridges have been built to allow you to cross the Cher between Lignerolles and St-Genest, a third one, recently installed, offers the possibility of hiking even more. Remarkable landscapes to be savored without moderation in St-Genest or in Sainte-Thérence.
The castle of the Bear, at the confluence of the stream of the Bear and the Cher, reveals its ruins of the XIIth century on a rocky bar covered with boxwood moors, characteristic and identity environment of the Combraille. The Cher Gorges are a real playground for thrill seekers:

canoe-kayak-gorges-du-cher-9The motonautical club, based on a stretch of water located on the Cher 20 km upstream from Montluçon, welcomes you for initiation or improvement of water skiing.
The objective is to allow its members but also external people, to practice the different disciplines (bi-ski, mono-ski, slalom, figures, wake-board) in leisure or in view of competition. The facilities include an approved slalom, a clubhouse, a concrete launching ramp.
The CMR has a club-boat equipped with a bar for initiation to the different disciplines with loan of equipment (skis, wakes, vests).
