Les Paul, the sound of rock turns 70

Exhibition curator: Julien BITOUN
Exhibition sponsor: Yarol POUPAUD

In 2022, the Les Paul guitar celebrates its 70th birthday and MuPop pays tribute to it in its temporary exhibition. This legendary guitar may have been invented for a jazz star in 1952, but it has become inseparable from the history of Rock, from Bill Haley to ZZ Top via Bowie, the Sex Pistols, Bob Marley, John Lennon or Peter Frampton. Thanks to its rediscovery by Eric Clapton in 1965, then Jimmy Page who will build Led Zeppelin’s sound around this instrument in 1969, the Les Paul has become the ultimate symbol of a style that did not exist when it was created.

In fifteen or twenty years, the first residents, young graduates, novice artists, have gone from being emerging artists to confirmed ones, when not stars or icons. Lumières sur le Bourbonnais 2022 – New show

During the summer season and the end-of-year holidays, Lumières sur le Bourbonnais is a show that allows you to discover or rediscover the rich history of the 2nd largest city in Auvergne, through a projection of images set in light and scenographed on the facade of the Old Castle.

The light show allows the castle of the Dukes of Bourbon to fly into the air. In a story freed from thez constraints of reality and thinking, it takes the start of a colorful fantasy adventure through the emblematic landscapes of the montluçonnais: the bocage with the well-cut fields, the Cher valley and its gorges…

Interludes in 3D create the link between each picture where reality and dreams end up merging as in the forest of Tronçais, which, at nightfall, gives way to magic and enchantment. When MuPop appears, the music speeds up, turning heads and bodies in an unexpected dance. Then the castle finally reaches the milky way thanks to a sophisticated control panel, reminiscent of those of Safran. Oneirism sprinkles the show until its final notes in a great fireworks, refusing gravity and verisimilitude, for the greatest happiness of the spectators.

See you on the place Édouard Piquand, at the foot of the Castle of the Dukes of Montluçon.
