Les Paul, the sound of rock turns 70
Exhibition curator: Julien BITOUN
Exhibition sponsor: Yarol POUPAUD
In 2022, the Les Paul guitar celebrates its 70th birthday and MuPop pays tribute to it in its temporary exhibition. This legendary guitar may have been invented for a jazz star in 1952, but it has become inseparable from the history of Rock, from Bill Haley to ZZ Top via Bowie, the Sex Pistols, Bob Marley, John Lennon or Peter Frampton. Thanks to its rediscovery by Eric Clapton in 1965, then Jimmy Page who will build Led Zeppelin’s sound around this instrument in 1969, the Les Paul has become the ultimate symbol of a style that did not exist when it was created. Find here the Press Kit of the exhibition.
