Treat yourself to an immersive experience!

In light of new digital trends, the town of Montluçon decided to set up a guided tour of the medieval town of Montluçon, combining various technologies as visitors move from one point of interest to the next: virtual reality, 360° photos, videos, images, sounds, mini-games, etc.

To realise these ambitions, Montluçon chose the company Rendr. With expertise in image synthesis and virtual reality since 2016, Rendr has created a range of services dedicated to showcasing towns, monuments and historic sites for local authorities, museums and tourist offices.

ItsLegendrapp is a digital tourist guide that enables everyone, regardless of age, language, educational background or level of mobility, to discover otherwise inaccessible historic sites through fun trails and treasure hunts.

Unmask the English spy!

“The year is 1410, and the Kingdom of France and the Kingdom of England are at war. We have been informed that an English spy has been spotted in Montluçon. Will you manage to unmask him in time?”

It is with this text that the City of Montluçon introduces its heritage trail exploring its medieval past, featuring 360° virtual reality experiences of Old Montluçon and the Esplanade of the Château des Ducs de Bourbon, recreating the town as it was in the 14th and 15th centuries.

Computer-generated reconstructions allow visitors to explore heritage sites as they appeared at different periods in history: Antiquity, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and the pre-war era.

This innovation, drawing on technology from animated films and video games, offers both an understanding of the complex layers of history and a new way of introducing visitors to
less well-known cultural sites.

Mini-games and interactive content

Legendr incorporates mini-games and interactive content into its tours, designed to capture the interest of younger visitors and offer an experience similar to an adventure game or an escape room, whilst offering visitors multiple-choice quizzes and challenges that enable them to learn and discover historical anecdotes in a fun way.

Eight points of interest have been selected in the medieval town of Montluçon:

  • Welcome to Montluçon / Tourist Office
  • Porte des Forges
  • Place François Maugenest
  • Place Notre-Dame
  • Esplanade Louis II de Bourbon
  • Notre-Dame Fountain
