Go on a hunt for zoom lenses!

How do you play PÉPIT?

Fun, engaging and accessible to all, this educational game – based on the principle of geocaching (a treasure hunt using GPS coordinates) – is played via a free mobile app and offers puzzle-filled walks that encourage players to observe and engage with the local heritage; all set within a story-driven game world populated by themed characters – the Zooms – who guide families on their quest.

At the end of each trail, teams find a bottle – the treasure – containing a reward: collectable badges featuring a Zoom character.

A community-building game in constant evolution, initiated by CAUE Allier

At present, families can play PÉPIT entirely at their own pace, choosing from 37 mystery walks organised into nine themes, each represented by a ‘Zoom’ and linked to one or more educational resources.

Every year, the gaming experience is enhanced thanks to improvements made to the app (illustrated glossary, wildcards, etc.) and new trails are added to the existing range.
This helps to consolidate the network across the department and enables the game to grow in popularity.

At present, our region is well represented by the urban trail in Montluçon, the adventures in Hérisson, Meaulne and Isle-et-Bardais in the Tronçais Forest, as well as the cycle route along the banks of the Berry Canal, launched in 2021.

A wide variety of trails for a captivating experience

Innovative and interactive, this treasure hunt – based on the principle of geocaching – is played using a free mobile app.

It offers 32 puzzle-filled walks, ranging from 1 to 9 km, encouraging participants to discover the local heritage; all set within a story-driven game world populated by characters who help families on their quest.

At the end of each walk, if the answers to the puzzles are correct, the GPS coordinates of the treasure are revealed! It’s a box containing real collectable rewards…
