The most beautiful oak forest in Europe

The Tronçais Forest

Covering nearly 10,500 hectares, the Tronçais Forest is an ideal playground for all kinds of walking.

If there were only one walk to take in this forest, it would certainly be the ‘Remarkable Oaks’ trail (though, let’s face it, it’s not an easy choice…). The route takes you to the foot of some of the forest’s most venerable old-timers, some of which are over four centuries old.

In step with the boatmen on

the Berry Canal

The former towpath along the Berry Canal between Montluçon and Vallon-en-Sully has been converted into a greenway and is reserved for non-motorised traffic. Locks, lock-keepers’ houses, a canal bridge and a drawbridge punctuate your walk.

Breathtaking scenery!

The Cher Gorges

A natural area included in the Natura 2000 network, the Gorges du Cher offer a spectacular setting home to unique flora and fauna. Footbridges spanning the Cher allow you to extend your exploration, particularly between Lignerolles and St-Genest. They have, in fact, become a must-see on the now famous and challenging Lavault-Sainte-Anne trail run (which takes place every year at the end of February).
